Kesar is India’s second largest mango variety in terms of exports. In terms of taste, it is second only to Alphonse, which is considered by many to be the best mango in the world. Kesar is a small to medium sized fruit with a roundish shape and a distinctly curved top. Its exterior is relatively unspectacular: the skin is a dull, slightly mottled yellow color, perhaps with a green tinge when less ripe. Things are different on the inside: The flesh is deep yellow-orange, soft and fragrant, with intense sweetness when they are in good condition.
