Natco Chana Dal, also known as Bengal Gram, is a good source of protein and dietary fibre. It has a better texture and nutty flavour than the Indian version of the yellow split pea. It can be cooked on its own or mixed in with other dishes. It is also used in many snacks, such as ‘Bombay Mix’.
Chana dal is obtained from the decortication and splitting of kala chana. Kala chana looks like a small, yellow split pea with a strong, nutty flavor. Bengal gram is more nutritious than other pulse crops. It is very high in protein and fiber and low in fat content.
