Doodhi, lauki is a member of the gourd family- Cucurbitaceae. It’s a running or climbing vine with small, light green fruits. The fruits are harvested young and used as a vegetable. They have smooth, white flesh and a light green skin. The round fruits are called Calabash gourds and the long, slender fruits are called Bottle gourds.
