Rasam is a thinner, spicier version of sambhar. It contains coriander seeds, red chili powder, cumin seeds, fenugreek (methi), vegetable oil and asafoetida. To make the dish, you’ll also need toor dal, turmeric, tamarind, jaggery (sugar), asfoetida and mustard seeds.
