Basmati rice is soaked and partially steamed while still in its husk. This process is called parboiling. Parboiling allows the rice to absorb nutrients from the husk. The rice is then milled to create a light yellow-amber color parboiled rice. Parboiled rice is firmer and less sticky than regular basmati rice.
