Parboiled basmati rice is light yellow-amber in color and firmer than regular basmati rice. Basmati rice is first soaked, partially steamed, dried, and milled to make parboiled rice. Parboiling allows for the absorption of nutrients from the rice.

The rice is then milled to create a light yellow-amber color parboiled rice. Parboiled rice is firmer and less sticky than regular basmati rice.
